Liposuction

Liposuction or Lipoplasty, refers to the removal of excess fat from different parts of the body using suction. Suction Assisted Lipectomy (SAL), Liposculpture, Lipolysis, or Key hole liposuction is a surgical procedure that helps to remove fat from those regions in the body from where it is awfully difficult to eliminate fat through exercise or diet.

Certain regions in the body where liposuction is performed are:

  • Thighs
  • Stomach
  • Buttocks
  • Around your knees
  • Hips
  • Arms
  • Upper and lower back
  • Double chin and face
  • Waistline
  • Breasts

Liposuction is also used for the treatment of certain medical conditions such as benign fatty tumors or lipomas, Gynecomastia, Lipodystrophy and axillary hyperhidrosis.

Liposuction: The Techniques

There are various non-surgical Liposuction techniques which include:

Ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL): In this procedure, energy is transmitted through a specially designed hand piece that helps in loosening and melting fat. This enables the removal of a greater amount of fat from the body.

Laser assisted liposuction (LAL): In this procedure, the laser operates like ultrasound to disrupt the fat cells in the body. Thus, fat removal becomes a more efficient and comparatively less painful process.

Recovery

Since the process is non-invasive and non-surgical, recovery time is not required. Patients can resume their daily activities immediately.
